Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Lourdes Simon entered judgment awarding Aircraft Systems, a division of Com-Jet Corporation, $25,746,691 against Aircraft Systems’ former Director of Operations Christyan V. Romero, following a June 11, 2026 bench trial. The Court found Romero liable for breach of contract, defamation, tortious interference with a business relationship, violation of the Florida Security of Communications Act, and civil conspiracy.
The litigation began in November, 2022, and proceeded aggressively for approximately four years, with Romero initially participating through counsel. In October 2024, Vedder attorneys, Javier Lopez and Marcel de la Cruz, substituted in as counsel for Aircraft Systems and for approximately two years litigated the case through intensive document discovery, motion practice, and depositions of key witnesses. Following those critical depositions, defense counsel moved to withdraw; the Court granted the motion and directed Romero to obtain new counsel or advise if he would proceed pro se, but he did neither. As a result of Romero’s failure to comply with court orders and participate in the case, the Court entered a judicial default on December 8, 2025.
After considering the evidence presented at trial on damages, the Court entered judgment in Aircraft Systems’ favor awarding it $25,746,691 in total damages, finding Romero’s conduct caused substantial harm and that the damages were supported by the trial record.
